    Nice reading but the ist model (Walker) Dragoon held 50 grains of powder. Subsequent 2nd and 3rd models held less.
    Many of the first issue burst their barrels and were shortened.
    The Dragoons claimed that once they got the pistol in hand it was the best fighting weapon of all. It would knock down a horse as well as unhorse a Mexican. Letters between Colt, Walker and Maj Ripley. Discussed performance and shortcomings of the Walker Dragoon. These can be found in "Arms And Ammunition in the United States Service"
    I believe the author was Maj. Ripley, Chief of Ordnance.
    In Sixguns by Keith he shows a beautiful target, shot in 1931 using Walker Dragoons. There was enough room in the cylinder for a 50 gr powder charge plus a felt wad and round ball.
