.357 ammo ?
Anyone ever heard of Herter's .357 Magnum ammo? I found a ziploc bag full of them while cleaning one of my junk drawers. Just curious cuz i've never seen them in any gun stores.

Herter's was really big in the catalog business back about 35-40 years ago ... one of my favorite catalogs that and Finnysports.
They had their own branded line of guns, ammo, etc. All made by others, but generally pretty good stuff. I'm sure some of the other geezers will remember the Herters Power Mags

Herter's was much like Cabela's - not as big - but roughly the same catalog content and additionally had their house brands in ammo, reloading gear and other lines. They even produced a proprietary cartridge - the .401 Herter's Mag - and revolvers so chambered. I say "they produced" but, like Cabela's, Sears and virtually all catalog operations, others produced these items with the Herter's name. As I recall, they only had one store (Minnesota?) and most of their sales were mail order. Unless a gun shop came into some ammo from an estate or the like, they'd not have it in house. I never shot any of the Herter's ammo, but my sense was that it's main attraction, like Sears, Western Auto, Montgomery Ward, etc., was price and independents would have better sales with mainstream brands. Your stuff has some premium as a low end collector item if in good condition - something on the order of $1 a round at retail.
