U.S M1 Carbine worth?

If I were looking to sell an M1 carbine in what I would consider excellent condition, what could I expect.

Im guessing that it was made by Saginaw steering gear of G.M.
only because it's stamped "Saginaw S.G.
the wood has no scratches or blemishes and it has the original sling and U.S. issued canvas case.

any info on the maker or the gun itself would be greatly appreciated.

    Well, yes and no. He can see what other carbines have sold for, but he doesn't really know what he has or how to describe it; he needs to be able to relate it to the wide range of condition/originality.

    trsmith5, I think that you will have to provide us with high quality photos of the gun if we are to help. Or, you might want to buy a copy of Craig Riesch's "U.S. M1 Carbines Wartime Production".
