MOD. 788 RESTOCK

I HAVE A LEFT HAND REM. MODEL 788, IT IS IN NEED OF A NEW STOCK, I ASKED A REMINGTON REP. ONCE WHERE I CAN GET A NEW SYNTHETIC STOCK FOR IT AND HE TOLD ME TO BUY A MOD. 700 STOCK THAT WOULD WORK, NOW IF THAT IS TRUE WILL A FACTORY WOOD STOCK ALSO WORK, PLEASE SOMEBODY SHED SOME LIGHT ON THIS FOR ME, THANK YOU.

    A few weeks ago, there was a Remington 788 on the block and it had a wooden 700 stock. As I recall, he had it professionally inletted and it looked sharp. I'm sure if he/she could do it so can you or at least look around and find a 'smith or a skilled person to do the deed.
