Shipping Hand Guns UPS Ground!!!!
What should I do? I am an FFl holder and was high bidder on a hand gun at Gunbrokers. The owner is an FFL holder too. It seems he shipped my hand gun UPS Ground. If it were lost the insurance is worthless. I try to follow the rules and be responsible when I sell. I ask him why he would send a hand gun UPS Ground his reply was "To keep prices down, also I feal UPS delivers 99 44/100% reliable." So how should I handle this preceived problem?

as of right now you don't have a problem, if the gun arives ok; good. if it dosen't, it's his problem. demand a refund for nondelivery and let him try to get his $$$ back. he hasn't broken any laws, only a ups shipping rule. 0 -
I have a Fedex account that I use for shipping things. In the past, I would mail the sender a Fedex container with a preprinted label and my account number on it and ask them to use this. 0 -
call and ask him how big the box was that he sent it in. odds are if its in a big box that cant be concealed easily, like a huge 12 bottle wine case box, it will make it. ive done it for over 10 years with no problems. again, you arent breaking fed rules, only ups rules...and who do they think they are anyway?! it will come. think positive. 0 -
It is a violation of federal law for a common carrier to deliver a firearm without getting a written receipt from an adult. If the shipper failed to declare the actual contents of the package to the common carrier, this could result in delivery of the firearm to someone who is prohibited by law from receiving it. If you believe that there is no way that BATFE can find a reason to arrest & charge you if that were to happen, you would be making a big mistake.
Why would anyone leave himself open to that kind of pain just to save $30 in shipping charges? Or, in this case, < $10?

but its not the receiver fault. his question pertained if he is breaking law by receiving it. we were just giving him comfort on the odds of it arriving. we dont want him to turn himself in pr the seller....do we? no. so, let it come, is what i think we were saying. 0 -
Law or no law, rule or no rule, I just picked up a handgun in a box from my garage floor where it was left by UPS with no signature.
SHHH! Don't tell anybody!

If seller has admitted via email that he shipped this way then I see him having 2 choices ... refunding your money ... if pkg. does not arrive, or his explaining to BATFE why he did what he did after you file a compliant. All you need is something to support that he shipped the way that he claims he did.
Heck FFL to FFL the pistol could have shipped USPS Priority Mail.
You didn't say how long the gun has supposedly been in route or where it is coming from. I know from the West Coast or Texas, UPS ground runs about 5 days. Sometimes less from Texas. And that is for long guns and/or non-firearm stuff.
The seller broke the rules and one way or the other they pay the consequences.

Let me explain I want to run him up the flag pole it is just a matter of how far. Possibly just giving him bad feed back mabe more. 0 -
I ALWAYS us Priority mail with insurance!
I do not use UPS just my personal choice.
I just had to report a UPS package missing and was told that the driver left it on my front porch! AND, I live near a Junior High School! Good thing it wasn't a gun!
Like another poster said, you could send him a prepaid package and tell him to use that or require he send it by your method before bidding on the item.
I only charge 20.00 flat rate for handguns or rifles to be shipped!
I measured it and cut it twice, and it's still too short!0 -
the only problem you have is the one you preceive, get off of gunbroker go to UPS.com put the darn tracking number in the little box and see where the darn things is, why are you worried about some thing that has not happen ? shoot ups tracking tells you every time the package is logged thru one of their hubs ,, relax 0 -

Thou Doest Complain o'er naught.
When the package gets there, refuse it, and send the shipper another $20. to ship it Next Day Air. That'll teach him!!!!!!
Please NEVER bid on an auction of mine.0 -
Celese, if your pkg. don't come through and this yo-yo is not willing to return your money ... then in my view you can't find a high enough pole. The "putz" took your money and through his idiot manuvers to save a "nickle ninty-eight" shipped the handgun illegally.
Right off I can think of two laws broken ... IF ... you don't get your pistol. If you do, at the minimum give the "slug" a neutral for being dumb.

Contender Man why do you say he shipped it illegally ? its not agaisnt fed law to ship ground you just have to tell them its a firearm , its their rules that say it must go overnight 0
