Was just gonna drop you an email.

Yesterday afternoon I went by one of my pet gunshops and they had a M44 in there so I asked them to let me handle it.

Tying to our previous email exchange, etc., the M44 grip feels undersized in my hand so that is a + for you.

Now to the S&W 629 PP the Hogue grips that come stock on that one feel a little larger to me, but still smaller than I like, so those grips may work for you or you may have to buy a slimmer pair.

As for the difference in price $150 is a good sum of money. However, unless the M44 you are contemplating is a ported model then to get a revolver ported is a $100-150+ proposition so it is then a matter of what recoil and noise levels do you want to put up with. Ported means lower felt recoil and a significantly higher noise level.

I have a 629 that I bought for hunting to save wear and tear on my 29 and I got a good deal on a PP optioned revolver so I bought it. So on the Smith the advice comes for actual use of both 629PP and 29.

If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!

I've got two 629s, and really like them. One is a 6 inch unported, and the other a 3 inch ported. A good friend of mine has a Taurus 44. Excellent revolver, very accurate. His is a 4 inch ported. For $150, and considering that both companies offer a lifetime warranty, I'd have to chose the Taurus in this instance; although I do not feel that way straight across the board on all of the company's products.

Both have good reputations as using revolvers. I have used S&W's before but not tauras-although I have a shooting buddy who has one and likes it. The real difference around my neck of the woods is that the re-sale value on the Tauras really drops more than S&W if you decide to sale or trade. If I were in your shoes I would try hefting both and go with what feels best to you. I am assuming of course that you plan on keeping it once you buy it.
