Has any one ever taken the forend off (an older 50'model) 760? The diagram shows a bolt but it looks pinned....any advice would help!!

I have a remington 760 pump rifle and tried to buy parts for it. I needed the action slide assembly but two different ones are listed, an early model and a regular one. How will I know which one I need? by cross referencing the barrel stamp, the gun was manufactured in 1962. does this make it an early style rifle? 0 -
Old Style Which Had An Externally Threaded Action Bar Retained By A Nut.
New models Are Retained cap W/Forend Screw.
Neither were pinned

gunrunner, I just took a look at mine, S/N 17**** to refresh my memory. If you look under the forend when it's in the action open position, there is a hole thru the tube that the forend travels on. After taking off the tube cap which may or may not be necessary, insert a snug fitting pin punch in that hole and unscrew the tube.
I've only done mine once and that's how I remember it.
Good luck,
