ANOTHER 870 BARREL QUESTION
I am getting ready to change the barrel on my 870,and was told there was a small ring and a large ring. Mine is an old wingmaster i shot my friends 3" barrel off his express and it worked fine, but again a gun at least 10 years old. So how do i tell if mine is a large or small ring?
thanks

IS THIS A .20ga OR .12 ga? If a .20GA and you used a an express Barrel it`s a small ring. As far as I know all .12ga only had one ring size. 0 -
It is a 12 guage.

I've got a 20 ga. Magnum 870 from the seventies. It has a full choke barrel and I've always wanted a 26" imp. cyl barrel for it, but I only see LT barrels. I'm assuming that the new barrels advertised are for LTs and would not fit my gun. In other words I'm not even sure they make a Rem-choke barrel for early models. Where is the best place to search for such a barrel? I've looked on GB and Gunparts with no successa. Any advice.

Humboldt why don't you just have your barrel shorten to 26" and threaded for screw in chokes, cost should run some where around $85 to 100 or if its already a 26" they should be abor to thread it for tubes 0 -
The large ring and small ring are for a different gauge, not 12ga. All the 12ga models are the same with the possible exception of some special versions. I bought an 870 2nd year production at a show a few weeks back and every part will interchange with the newer express models. I only deal in 12ga, but I see large and small ring advertised all the time for other gauges, I think 16ga or 20ga. I have a variety of 12ga 870 barrels if in need. I would rather trade or better yet get another than cut down a perfectly good barrel anyday. 0
