Springfield XD Pistol

Have 9 and 40, like them both. Trigger pull on either is far from match grade, but they are "service" grade pistols.

You didn't say if the examples you've handled are range rental pistols or if they are owned by others. If they are range pistols they typically only receive enough attention to remain functional.

For the money they are a resonable value. Some people don't like them because of where they come from and/or the name Springfield in general. If you don't have any of those issues, then they are worth considering.

If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!

With the IDPA group I shoot with, there seems to be a lot of Springfield XD's starting to show up.

I have one in .40. It shoots as well as I can hold it. The trigger is not the best but the thing seems to be 100% reliable. After all, they are not target pistols but overall I think they do what they were designed for very well.

I have both the 9 and the 40. They are good service pistols, you are not going to win the bullseye match, but they are reliable. After almost two years of carry and 1000's of rounds through the 40 100% reliability.

I own an XD subcompact 9mm and the thing is great. Albeit, not too accurate but its only got a 3" barrel. The 4" and 5" models have much better accuracy. I know that my trigger is pretty smooth and it has never felt gritty. Possibly the gun you handled needed to be cleaned. Springfields are glocks with better safety features, a better feel, and a better price.

I don't have the XD, but have the HS2000, which is what it was before SA, Inc. bought the marketing rights. They were less expensive when they were the HS2000. I think they are very nice pistols. Chat room for both the XD and HS2000, some real fans there:

boeboe is correct and i believe the guns are from a croatian company that you will see on the slide of the XD. I will say made in croatia. They are basically the same exact thing minus the brand stamps on the pistol
