Carbon 15 --- ar 15
I would like to get an ar-15 style rifle. I noticed that Bushy has the Carbon 15. The receiver, stock etc. are made of carbon fiber material not aluminum. Any thoughts on this rifle? Looking for something 16" barrel, pre/post not real important. This is a lightweight rifle, I guess with 223 the recoil is not that great, or at least not enough to worry about. I am concerned about the "foam" cover on the stock covering the recoil spring.

I owned one of these carbon fiber rifles. Do not worry about carbon fiber it is very strong and just might out live the metal rifles. You can not interchange parts with the standard AR type rifle. They are fun to shoot and are the lightest rifle on the market at this time. In rapid fire the hand guard will get hot after 100 rounds or so. My Carbon 15 would shoot as well as any AR I have owned. Mine had a rail on the top than ran the entire length of the fore hand grip. I mounted a halo scope on it and it grouped well. My 2 cents [8D]

I had heard that these were very inaccurate. Just last week I watched a guy shoot one on the range and it grouped about 8 inches at 50 yards with a scope, from a bench rest. I don't know any more about the rifle or ammo. He was not pleased...... 0 -
A friend has one so I had to as well. Don't know about the 8" inch group thing, he's been getting 1' to 1 1/2 @ 100yds. I will say the trigger pull of the factory trigger is to tough for a 4+ lb gun tho. Of course the lawyers would probably prefer something in about 50#.
Mine has the muzzle break, recoil is negligable, muzzle blast is LOUD.
Do not confuse these with the trash from Vulcan or Hesse.0 -
Is Bushmaster making these now? A friend of mine had one of the pistols from Professional Ordnance. Another friend and I referred to it as the jam-o-matic. I'm sure you can figure that one out. He sent it back two or three times and it still never cycled reliably. I was interested in getting one, but after all the trouble he had, I just forgot it. What's the price range on the Bushy's?

My suggestion on a 16" barrel AR15 type rifle would be to look at Bushmaster's 16" setup that leaves the sights at the end of the barrel and uses the 20" handguards. The sight picture is much better then that of the standard 16" setups but you still get the nimbleness of the shorter system. Also, while light is nice, versatility is nicer. The standard Al ARs mix and match so that you can swap out your 16" setup for a 24" scoped varmint rig in about 6 sec. I beleive that Bushmaster calls thier 16" the "Disapater" or some such. 0 -
Gravedigger, Yes, as Bushmaster bought out Professional Ordinance, I believe. PO was having more financial probs than anything else. Depending on how they are set up it seems they start out around $840 on up. No problems yet that I know of and will even feed wolf reliably, tho I don't plan a steady diet of it. It is not a Hesse or Vulcan, not even in the same planet (ie nice stuff vs junk). 0
