Remington Model 11 Stock Bolt
I have a Remington Model 11 that the rear stock bolt hole is stripped out. What is the bolt size & thread pitch for this bolt? Is there a thread insert available for these? The bolt also seems to be a little short. Is there more than one size of rear stock bolt for these shotguns? THANKS, Leo.

i don't have my brownells parts book handy but i think the thread is a meanie 1/4" (x28/30/32?) i'll check later. this is the bolt that goes up from the rear trigger guard hole into the receiver tang. sob to repair. 0 -

leo,
I am not going to take one of my Remingtons apart but have the following sugestions...Measure the stock through bolt screw-OD-
Drill and tap the receiver extension for a "known" TPI in either NC
or NF. Likely build up the through bolt w/ braze or silver solder. Thread and insert. Also, either e-gun parts or Sarco recently advertised NOS Remington M-11 Recevers-stripped-for about $30.00.
As I recall, the extension for the stock through bolt was "brazed" to the receiver. Memory lapse.
The Remington M-11 is equal to the A5-in my opinion.
You can not weld the bolt to the receiver extension unless you are qualified for Micro-Welding thru Walnut. Also, the Remington M-11 has many price variables. A Military or Police "riot gun" would command a premium. Also, the grade-engraving and stock/figure&checkering in original stong condition will demand a price/per grade-up to $10,000.
The only dislikes are the "safety" within the trigger guard. The external safety models w/the push button/outside the trigger guard are more desireable for shooting. 1010 -
remember...new receiver new ffl serial number. as you can sorta see, we are all saying its a lot of work to fix no matter what way you go. only you can determine if its worth it. btw...forgive my use of the word weld....i should have used the word melt, braze, solder or whatever! brazing and retapping...picture all the hours you are about put into retapping it and they day comes....you put the stock on and tighten it down and pop....it pulls out. its gonna make you sick. been there, done that. sell the gun parts and make a killing, then buy one that is ok. serious.
