  I have an old Winchester 30-30 that was my grandfathers and would like to find out what year it was made in. How would I go about doing this on-line?

  You can probably find out right here if you post the model(a 94 I presume)and the serial #.Lots of the guys have the books and are good about looking things up for people.......[8D]

  Yes, post the SN# , minus the last three digits, just replace them with x's as in 1234xxx. Or if you have the Blue Book go to the back there are tables there to help you.
  
  Another idea is to call a local gunshop if you feel uncomfortable about posting SN#'s on the net. Give them the SN# and they can look it up for you, as they will have the proper resources on hand to find it.

  BTW, the important breaking point in SN#'s with Winchesters is guns made in 1963 and before. For instance Model 1894's with the SN# 2,700,000 and greater were made in 64 and later.
