Ruger 10/22.. 77/22..
I got a question yesterday from a certified hunter about magazines.
As I do some repairs of firearms (amateur gunsmithing), I was asked if a magazine for a Ruger 77/22, cal. .22LR - would fit a Ruger 10/22 rifle in same caliber.
They look very very much alike, haven't broken the wrapping/pack.
But as far as I can see, without measuring, is that it should fit.
I've read on a homepage, that the bottom of the magazine would be different - but only cosmetically as it would have a slightly other contour from the other firearm.
Any help appreciated and thanks in advance [:)]

Don't do anything that I've allready done - That'd be just plain STOOOOOOPID.

Happy yes they both fit each other the only difference is the bottom contour of the mag is a little more flat on the 77/22 any way thats the way mine are , i have both , did you know that you can use .22long in the 77/22 mag and it feeds ok , I like using the .22 long CB in it for shooting pest birds in the spring 0 -

Thank you for the answer =o)
I figured that much, expecially when reading some techno-babble on an amateur-homepage, but wanted to check up with the experts anyways.
It isn't my rifle, so I have no experience with it at all.
Other than I've shot various kinds of rifles in both Denmark and here and between those rifles were the Ruger 10/22.
I've threaded a few of them to accept a silencer for hunting purposes.
Threaded them, so the front sight was kept operational - not much material to thread, but with the light aluminum silencers, it would be plenty material eventhough.
The reason I brought it up, was because I was asked if the magazines were interchangeable - so before opening the pack, I wanted to check up with you guys =o) So he had a chance to return it, before using it.
To me, they looked exactly the same, but then again - as my untrained eye was focused, I didn't look at the shape of the bottom.
Just looked at the dimensions, shapes, materials, placement of groves and such.
Since I'm not a full time hunter who lives by that trade, I am not registered as an actual hunter.
I'm just a "Sparetime hunter" - a hunter that can't buy semi-auto firearms, only the Fulltime-hunters can do that.
If I owned a semi-auto rifle before the regulation or law was passed, it would be okay though.
Haven't got much use for a semi-auto rifle in .22LR, but that's another story =o)

Happy , now having a silencer on a 22 rifle woud sure be fun come spring when all those nasty Starling start building their darn nest every where , bet you could get 2 or 3 before they figured out what was going on , anyway glad to be of help [:D] 0 -
If my memory is correct, it should fit the 96/22 as well
