I haven't shot a 7600, but I have used a friend's 760. It was accurate, but it kicked like a mule. It's killed a ton of deer over the years, and its never failed yet.

If you're hunting at shorter ranges the short bbl will work fine as velocity loss is not as important, but as mentioned above these guns do have more noticeable recoil due to stock design and poor buttpads unless they have changed them. The short bbl will make the recoil worse than the standard bbl and noticeably louder. They are pretty accurate for pump guns but not as accurate a bolt action.I think the reason people think they are is that they are generally used at closer ranges where it is not so apparent.Good timber and brush guns and even at reasonable ranges they are pretty accurate, but not like a good bolt gun........I still have two but don't use them much anymore...............Good Luck.........[8D]

A Remington 760 is the luckiest gun I've ever owned, has made some shots I was dreaming of when I pulled the trigger.

I'm sure the 7600 is also a fine gun although I am unaware of what changes they made from the previous model.

The older 760s had a barrel lug, like a pump shootgun, at the tip of the forend, newer 7600s have a free floating bbl. My .270 shoots great, has taken many critters from ground critters in Wyoming to Gemsbok in S. Africa. One VERY important thing to remember, if using a rest DO NOT rest on the barrel !!!!
