FBelcher - "Blue Book" (21st Edition, 2000) says approx 38,000+ of the Remington-made A-5's were manufactured during 1940-1949...s/n range B5000-B43129...condition is everything with ESTIMATED value from $160 - $325. Condition of wood, metal, originality of stock, barrel, etc, choke, and part of the country as well as time of the year will affect what you are offered for the gun. Some sellers may be disappointed to find that the values can be lower than expected but the Browning A-5 Light Twelves and Magnums are plentiful and generally more desirable - the possible exception being a really "minty" Mod 11. I don't have one and I would be very interested in a really clean and sound ribbed-barrel model with solid wood and nice metal surfaces.
Several years ago I went to a gunshow in New Orleans with a neighbor of mine who brought his daddy's Mod 11 with us looking to replace the barrel as the original had developed a "ring" bulge toward the muzzle. He wound up buying a solid ENTIRE gun with leatherette case for $150.00.
You might do a GunBroker Auction search to see what folks have asked for them and what was bid for the ones that more or less compare to yours. Best wishes in your efforts.0 -
If the gun is in VG to EXC condition, with original box, I would not take anything less than $700.00 for the gun. 0
