just bought sks
I just bought my first sks a Yugo unnissued at the local gun show. Now my question is when I went out and shot it is it normal for the barrel to get hot after 40 rounds thru it. I stoped at 40 because I didn't know if getting hot would cause a problem. how hot is to hot for the barrel to get.[:p]

The barrel should be very hot after 40 rounds. That is perfectly normal. The barrel will wear out faster, the hotter it gets. But don't worry, that is years down the road. By the time that happens, you will have saved enough to buy a new one. 0 -
They are military weapons and can handle pretty much anything you throw at them. Have fun with it and just make sure you clean it right and everything should be O.K.

Yeah, they get hot really quick. The crossbolt gets very hot very quick. Burnt my hand on it a couple of times. Now, I use a small rag tha I use to wipe up the cosmoline cause the gun gets so hot and to keep my hand from coming in contact with the crossbolt.

on active duty i had m249 get so hot you could see the rounds going down the barrel it was pretty cool
