Trolling Batteries- Boat experts need some help
I was hesitant to post this question here, any how here goes
I fish in a lake that is trolling motors only, does anyone (hopefully the good Captkirk will know)
There is a new Marine Battery called the "Evertroll" made just for trolling motors. My question is, are they any good for the price ($399.00) as to a regular deep cycle Optima?
Have you used one? Do the last 4 times longer on a single charge than a deep cycle?

Thanks in advance

Whoa, 399 for a battery. I would get a couple of regular deep cycle ones and change them out if needed. 0 -
I've had good luck with optima's. Even they are expensive...
Your results might vary, but I've found in my usage that the standard starting battery actually outlasts the deep cycle in terms of holding a charge. I do however, feel they have a shorter life span since they aren't meant for constant drain/recharge.
Another odd thing I do, I put a 1mfd capacitor on the 12 volt trolling motors. It seems to even out the load to the battery more and the motor seems to start better and/or pull through weeds easier. I've never heard of anyone else doing that, but I had some left over from old stereo projects so I threw 'em in there.
The 10mm - either you've got it, or you don't get it...0 -
The Big selling point is 1/2 the weight of a group 34 and you can run them Aprox 3-4 times longer.

[:D] there is a deep cycle battery called Trolling Thunder they were a military battery originally i paid $175.00 for the larger on back in 2000 and it still good .no problem with storage give a full charge and forget it good against freezing down to -40 charges in i/3 the time and don't lose a little everytime you recharge as a regular deep cycle. cost about 3X the std battery but worth it i think Bass Pro had been selling them , the man at the comany told me they were not able to supply the demand for the BPs demand as Boating batteries were not there prioritythey are made by Hawker Energy products cust. ser. # 1-800-546-9611 now the 3 is from 2000 it may still be good call and ask for info. good luck [:D]

Consider using two 6volt forklift batteries in series. It's the recommended arrangement for motorhome house batteries. they work better than regular or deep discharge batteries. Wallmart has good prices and guarantees. 0 -
YES! I saw them at CABELA'S $400.00 !!!I think Boat/US, had something on the web page. It was about the new GELL batteries. Think they said it was the best you can get. Have seen them in Wal-Mart?? maybe it was Sams Club... I think under $150.00 This spring I will need to get 5 NEW batteries for my houseboat.. And I will look into the Gell's....[:)]
