New Reloader looking for powder/primers
I just got my first reloading setup - RCBS Rock Chucker. Can you guys recommend a good tumbler? Should I go for cheapest or one with a lifetime warranty? How often do they break down? Got everything else except the tumbler.
Also, where are some of the best places to get powder & primers & such?
Thanks, Bryan

Lots of good tumblers out there from inexpensive to fairly high dollar. I believe the ones from Dillon still come with a lifetime warranty if you want to put out a few extra bucks, but I've had inexpensive ones last along time. I had a Lyman 1200 last over twenty years.Any of the big name brand ones will give you good service.Just shop around and see what you'd like to spend.I'd get one with a little larger capacity the the small ones in case you really get into it down the road.--- As far as powder and primers go see if there are any gun shows or gun shops in your area. If you order it you'll have to pay a hazmat shipping fee and if it's a small order there is no economics in that. You can probably pay a little more at a store and still come out ahead. If not, try to get some friends to order with you and get alot on one hazmat fee. It's the same if it's one pound/one box primers or up to (I think)32lbs of powder. If you want to order and have shipped there are lots of places to get this stuff from. Some good ones are: Natchez, 800-251-7839,natchezss.com ; Midsouth,800-272-3000,midsouthshooters.com ; Wideners,800-615-3006 to order or 423-282-6786,wideners.com. ---- Good Luck.......[8D] 0 -
Ditto on the Lyman 1200, I had one that lasted 18 years without a problem. Poweder and primers are best bought from your local dealer as mail order will kill you with the haz mat shipping charges. Look at gunshows, you can usually stock up on powder and primers there, buy in bulk when you buy and save some money!

I have had a Midway 1292 running for about 5 years straight except for a couple vacations. They are only about $40. For powder and primers, you might get lucky and find them cheap at a local dealer, I have 1 guy I deal with who is generally cheaper than any of the wholesalers, plus no hazmat.

Thanks for the input! I will keep my eye out for a Lyman set up. I see what you mean about the $20 shipping fee. Ugh.
