I think $200 or so. Locally, new ones are under $250. A dealer may give you $125 if you sell.

Agree w/ Richbug ... if you need to sell DO NOT go to dealer unless that is the route of last resort ... try for private sale at gun show and don't give it away. As described you should be able to get 75% of what you paid for it, if not more, if you have the time to be patient.

If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!

Around here I think one would bring $250 or so. This should be a link to Taurus 38's on this site (I hope)

Nope, that didn't get it. On the home page choose pistols [should say "handguns" ] then choose revolvers, then enter your search term "Taurus 38" to see what they're asking here a GB. Put one on your watch list.

I've been looking at this model at local shows and they ask $229-$249 for "as new" w/box before negociation. $200 is a fair price, but if you sell thru the auction remember that it will cost the buyer about $35-$40 with frt and getting a FFL to receive. Most items that are listed at a reasonable entry bid without a reserve get a fair price. I'd start at about $150-$160 and see who wants that gun.
