11-87 vs. Super X2
Need some help on my decision. I'm looking at one of these 2 in the following configuration:
3.5" Mag
Synthetic
26" BBL
This is a gift and therefore I'm not at liberty to select a Beretta, Franchi, etc. There are some 11-87 lovers and haters out there...most issues I've seen are regarding the o-ring. I know the Super X2 is based on the Browning Gold but I don't know anyone who shoots it. Need some input.
Thanks.

GET THE WINCHESTER. YOU WILL ENJOY THE GUN. MUCH LIGHTER THAN THE 11-87 AND IT WILL WORK.

11/87 works just fine that o-ring thingy is over rated it cost 2 bucks to get a new one if it breaks. Ive had mine for 7 years and Had to replace it once. The 11/87 might be heavier but your shooting 3.5s that might be a good thing

I use my 1187 for everything,no problems, I just keep an extra "o"ring with me. I think I've replaced 2 in 10yrs.

My intention is to use it for everything from doves to waterfowl and all points in between. Accessories for the 11-87 seem to be easier to find than the Winchester...will the Winchester use Gold accessories (replacement stock, chokes, etc). 0 -
remington has 40 years seniority in semi autos over winchester. all winchester did with the gold was reintroduce the superxm1 with some changes, designed back in the 70's. wheres the originality in that? go remington.

Had one experience in a "side by side" comparison with these two last winter. We were shooting steel for speed - knock all 5 steel targets down in the least amount of time. It was cold - around 10 degrees (F) above. The two of us that had 11-87s didn't have a bit of trouble. The three guys that had X2s didn't finish a single string without a misfire or jam. We even traded shells to see if that would help - it didn't. Wouldn't mind finding more competition like that to shoot against!!! 0 -
I think it's gonna depend a lot on what your using the gun for. If your just using it to bang clays outa the sky every so often then I'd say the 11-87, if your planning to hunt a lot or shoot at the lucky x's then I'd go with the Winchester.

I shoot and hunt alot with my 1187, like I said, I've had no problems. You guy's amaze me when you tell someone not to buy something, but you don't explain why. Was it something you read, or something someone told you, or was it personal experence? Give a reason. Mine works all the time, with all loads.

can I ask why you want the 3 1/2" chamber? unless you plan on hunting a lot of high flying geese the 3" will do any thing you need , the 3" gun is lighter , cost less , easyier to get other barrels for ,, I guess if you have a need for it fine but if not then why bother. on the Remington remember that some of the barrels are make to handle only the heavier loads, these are usually marked on the left side of the barrel ( not for light loads) or some thing long those lines, usually these are the camo barrels that come on the turkey model and other hunting models , the standard high gloss model will handle anything , just be sure and check before you buy 0 -
grizzclaw if your refering to me then let me be more descriptive for you.
I own an older 11-87, used to have a new model 11-87 and neither gun ever held much of a pattern for me. I'd still throw some cheap bulk shells or reloads through them and knock clay pigeons down all day long. Using them for that was fine for me.
I also currently have two Winchesters and will not get rid of either. Both guns work excellent and hold very tight patterns. Both work great for anything I might want to do.
Everyone and their brother talk about the o-ring problem with 11-87's, but I have never replaced mine or had a problem with it. The reason for that being my 11-87 doesn't get used that much.
