The reason to register a pistol is mainly to identify the weapon and who it belongs too ! This way if it's stolen and then recovered, it can be returned back to it's owner. Secondly, if you want to "carry" (concelled ), it has to be registered. Then, if you want to sell it , it takes it out of you'r name and saves any back lash if, it's used illegialy. All it takes is a quick background check .I believe the pistol is held for 3 days by the FFL dealer.

what if the pistol is already "registered" to you in your state that you are coming from. When you buy a gun the ffl registers the gun in your name in Va. the exception would be if you had a person to person purchase. Do you still need to reregister in Pa. and turn your guns overs for three days? Who in Pa. maintains this registry?
Sorry for so many questions ,but I just did the same move. And it is the middle of thenight and I am sitting up with my 1 month old, again. I know back in Va. the ffl held there records as long as they were in business and any search of records had to go through them. As a matter of fact bobs gun shop in Norfolk is involved in a law suit right now about turning over these type of records. you can read about it at www.bobsgunshop.com. thanks you for the info

I don't know Muss, if it's already registered , as to what the requirements are. If it were me , I go to a sporting goods store , where they sell guns and have a FFL and ask them what I needed to do to make it legal. The store you purchase a handgun at holds the weapon the 3 day examination period. I suppose regeristing would so apply . 0
