.44 mag grips sizes
I am planning to purchase a .44 mag revolver. I have done some researching to find one that is most comfortable. I have found that the S&W 629 fits great and the ruger redhawk fits good as well. I know that the taurus raging bull is far too big. I have not been able to find a taurus model 44 to compare the grip size feel to the 629 or raging bull. I do know that hogue makes grips for the model 44 but does not for the raging bull. Does anyone have any experience with these guns. If so could you please five some advise. I like the looks of the taurus model 44 the best of all with the 629 a close second. Problem is I may not be able to get my hands on a model 44 without ordering it. Thanks for any info offered.

Well it's good to see that you've dropped the 454 and are now focused on the 44 mag.
I either have or have had each of the revolvers you mention, but I have large hands so I am limited in what I can tell you.
The Redhawk/Super Redhawk are good guns, but, they are bulky and with full house loads and the grip design they will roll in your hand and you may not care for that.
Ragin bull I think you've taken out of the running as just being to big for your hand.
The M44 is a nice revolver and there are grip options, but not as many as you would find with a Smith "N" frame. If there is a specific grip that you like with a M44 then order the revolver and grip. If not, you may want to consider the Smith because of the wider range of after market grip choices.
I asked my wife how she felt about the cross section because she has fired each revolver. Her reply was a Model 29 that has a hogue combat grip because it better fits her hand than the others, and she doesn't like the "Redhawk Roll" at all. However, for a "gal" she has pretty good sized hands so that opinion may not be a lot of help to you. But, she does enjoy the heavier calibers so it's not a matter of being recoil adverse ... she's a pretty good shot too.
Hope this helps.
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0
