Hello, I recently had my 1863 Sharps rifle appraised. It was valued at $9,000.00 It is in excellent condition 95%mechanical and 80% of the finish is the original . It has all the patents; sling ring is excellent with the metal still a white shade the gunbroker said it is almost brand new condition. MY DILEMMA IS THAT ANOTHER GUNBROKER SINCE HAS TOLD ME THAT IT PROBABLY WOULD ONLY BRING ABOUT $3000.00 AT AUCTION.Who do I listen to and trust now!I am thoroughly confused. What is your opinion? Any help would be appreciated

Not being smart mouth but you rifle will only bring what someone is willing to pay.
The $9,000 appraisal seems to come closer to the mark for how you described it and the other, $3,000 appraisal is down there were the better reproductions sell, some of them are even more than $3,000.
Reality most likely lives in the middle. You can get another appraisal and see where that one falls.
Did you pay a fee to either of the first two appraisers ... if not you don't have much kick there. Another angle is a museum and what they would rate it at. Then there are the publications such as Fladeymans (sp?) ... generally you can find a copy in the library.
At this point don't entertain any sales until you have a value that your comfortable with, and then when that happens it's just a matter of finding a buyer for that value.
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0
