What do you think about buying the Olympic .223 Plinker and then buying the free floating heavy stainless barrel upper for it. Do you think that would be a good investment?

    If you saw a AR-15 lightning link on ebay, it was probably a ATF sting. Lightning links (LL) are also known as drop in auto sears. They cause a AR-15 to fire full auto. If it is not registered, and priced around $7000, then it is illegal. Stay away from it.

    That is what I kinda thought but wasnt sure and I didnt want to ask on ebay thanks for the info

    Actually "lightning Links" and Drop in Auto sears are two completely different devices and each achieves full automatic fire in AR type rifles using totally different mechanics. In addition, a Drop in Auto Sear will allow selective fire while a Lightning Link modified rifle is capable only of full automatic fire. The actual technical description of each device's operation is long, complex, and boring so I'll spare you the agony.

    I figured it was something illegal because it said you can change it in about 5 sec Glad you spared me the agony as I would never have wanted to have something that I had to keep looking over my shoulder every time I wanted to go out and play

    There was a guy on Fleabay selling a Lightning Link decal awhile ago.

    You put the decal on a sheet of metal and cut it out, make the bend.

    Since it was only a sticker it is legal to buy for educational purposes.

    You have to change your bolt to use a lightning link, it will only work with one style of bolt and must be timed or bad bad things will happen.

    Hello, nice link. Very interesting, eventhough I have no need or want to convert my AR to full auto. More fun to hit 30 things with a full mag. than hit who knows what with 30 rounds.
