Inless you find someone who really needs the money you might want to raise your price to at least 650 or 700.

The Olympic plinker is the only new AR that comes to mind for $500.

The olympic plinker was one that I was looking at. Does anyone have any knowledge of these? Are they accurate, well made, cycle without jams? I do realize that most ar style rifles are out of my $500 dollar range. I'm still in the looking faze so if anyone has any suggestions about reliable .223s that are in my stated range I'm open to anything. Pretty much all I want is somthing that I can put a nice scope on, that is semiauto, and that I can customize a little. I'm not looking for a 2000 yard tack driver. I like a .223 because it's cheap to shoot and I've got 3 other .233 firearms.

Thanks for the replies and any suggestion

Go to the Equipment Exchange boards on AR15.Com and post in the Want to Buy and review the Want to Trade board. You will probably never find what you are looking for NIB but may find a better used rifle than the Oly "Plinker". Also post on the Want to Buy board here.

Might want to throw another $100 in the pot, then hit a few gun shows in your area. I've seen some used 15's in pretty darn good shape being sold by fellas making the rounds.

Look at it this way ... if a dealer at a gun show has say $700 on a piece you can figure that he didn't pay more than $600 and he's leaving himself some "wiggle" room at $700.

I'd leave the Oly as my last choice.

You might want to check out a Daewoo DR-200, mMy experience with them has been outstanding. They are loosely a combonation of the AK-47 upper and AR15 lower, can use any ar15 mag. Pricing in the $500-$700 range is not un common. a lot of gun for the money. good luck

Add another $150 and get a used Bushmaster. You get what you pay for. You will lose money on an Oly in the long or short run.

I have 2 Bushmasters and a Colt....Personally I think they do the same things equally well, they are both mil-spec but they cost more than 500.00.You can get a good xm-15 e2s m-4 Bushmaster for around 800.00 unless you want to buy a used one for 700.00 Better to spend more and get ALOT more gun especially if your life would depend on it.[:D]

If your looking for a good shooter, the Oly is a good choice. I've never had a problem with mine, and they take all the add-ons with no problems. A lifetime warranty goes with them. Unless someone can give you real proof that the Oly isn't any good, don't rule them out. If you want to sell it when your done, you'll get your money back if you shop smart.
