Another old German Training rifle Need Info
This old German .22lr training rifle has a 26" barrel, full lenght wood stock, adj. rear sight for 200 meters, it has a band on front for a side sling attachment, the top of barrel says Deutches Sportmodell, on the left side of barrel it says Roechlingstahl 1177 and has Crown B & U proof marks and 5,4mm. On the left side of rec. it has crown B & U proofs and 1177. The top of the rec. says 1934
Maffenrtadt (not sure if that is correct spelling as it is in gothic lettering)and has a proof mark that appears to have a couple houses in it and window that looks like it has arosster in it and below this is says Suhl. The top of the bolt handle has crown B & U proofs on it and the bottom side of bolt has 1572 on it. The stock has a slong for the sling to go through and the little knob that will go through the hole in the sling. It also has the bolt disassembly knob in the stock also. It has a metal buttplate as well. Does anyone know what this gun is or what it might be worth? Also any history or age? Thanks

This is known as a DSM and is prewar. It is possible that this rifle was used to train Hitler Youth. Provided "Bubba" hasn't filed, sanded, sawed, blued, scoped, or any number of other "improvements", it retains considerable collector value. Possibly $500. although this is just a possible estimate without actually seeing the rifle. 0 -
