Hardest hitting .22lr ammo

I am looking to restock the ammo cabinet and am thinking about my sumemr/fall hunts--have money now, won't then. One of the trips we will be taking this year is to the Dakotas to hunt prairie dogs--a first for me. We will be shooting .22lr and most shots will be under about 75 yards. What, in people's opinions, is the best and hardest hitting commercial 22lr ammo out there?

  winchester "power points" are very hard hitting and very accurate they would be my choice

  The highest energy 22lr rounds are CCI Stinger and Aguila Super Maximum (I think that's what Aguila calls their hyper-velocity rounds).

  Ditto on the CCI Stingers......They make another one that I believe is called "velocitor" that is supposed to be even faster but I think it is a lighter bullet. At those ranges you'll never see the difference in trajectory. I'd go with a bullet that will penetrate the best.........[8D]

  kerr 222; you need accrocey for praire poodles, not power. Any .22 that gets there will knock 'em off their feet, the trick is to hit them. Find which ammo is the most accurate in your rifle, then buy several cases of it. You'll never run out of dogs, but you will run out of ammo 75 miles from town, trust me!!

  the cci velocitor is a 40 grain bullet going in excess of 1400fps.i have had excellent results with this round and would highly recommend you give them a try out of your rifle.if they pattern well out of your gun there prob.isnt a better round out there.rimfires are very picky guns though so you should test different ammos and see if your gun likes them.you dont need match grade results just minute of rodent results.hope this helps don

  cci stingers are the highest rated in the book i am looking at
  
  32 grain 1640fps 191 footpounds at the muzzle

  30 grain 1450 fps 140 footpounds

  I agree with pack rat,I'd go with the accuracy and with my 22's,I shoot the best groups with Winchester SuperX,just my .02,Bob.
