STAR FIREARMS, LOOKS LIKE A SHARPS
Hoping to find some info on a gun I just found, star firearms co.
lokks like yonkers , New York looks identical to a Sharps rifle but
has a short barrel like a carbine version , the buttstock is beat up hoping to find out some history on this gun and possibly where I could
find a new buttstock. THANKS Chris[:D]

Your Starr "Capping Carbine" was only made during the American Civil War (1862 - 1865) in limited numbers.
"Flayderman's Guide" gives the figure of 20,601 total. It was supposed to have been issued to a number of Union Cavalry Regiments who participated in the Western campaigns.
Since it's been over 135 years, it's not likely any original buttstocks are still in existence.
Flayderman values them between $925 & $2,400. Depending on condition.

THANKS RS, that info helps out a lot the buttstock is beat up but the rest of the gun besides the surface rust no pitting is in great working order.Thanks again for the info.[^][^]
