I've fired these from a M59/66A1 carbine (SKS) and the Yugoslavian Kalashnikovs (the AK uses a screw on launcher, one of which I took home) in Macedonia a number of years before these SKS carbines were ever imported into the United States in the large quantities we see today. Of course it is helpfull if you have a supply of Yugoslavian M60 grenades but any rifle grenade with a 22mm internal diameter will work. First you must close off the gas supply and this is done by pressing in the gas cut-off valve and moving it to the top of the gas cylinder. Then flip up the grenade sight targeting in the standard manner by using the appropriate range arch aligned with the largest diameter of the grenade and placing it on the target. DO NOT USE A STANDARD BALL SERVICE CARTRIDGE to launch the grenade!!! The Yugoslavs issued a special balliste cartridge for launching purposes and a standard service round fired into the tail of the grenade may well cause it to explode! Each balliste cartridge is loaded individually into the chamber and then the grenade is fired. If I remember there are four types of Yugoslavian M60 rifle grenades in service: anti personel, anti-tank, an illumination grenade, and a smoke grenade. I was only allowed to fire the latter two types since the explosive variety were $50 per pop (the former communists became big time capitalists overnight!). The SKS should also be able to fire the older Energia grenades as well but I never had a chance to try these out. Enjoy!

This is a link to a Web-Site, that gives information on rifle grenade adapters that were made specifically for the US M1 Rifle and M1 Carbine.

In principle the operation of the Yugoslav Model 1959/66 SKS was exactly the same, EXCEPT the "spigot-type" grenade launcher was an integral part of the SKS, i.e. it was not readily removable like the above American launchers/adapters.
