yes they are, but I've got fellas I shoot with that have fitted BSA and Tasco dot sights to there 1911's by way of an Aimpoint grip adaptor and for the most part they have no problems with the scopes and the cost is less than Bushnell

If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!

I think them new-fangled sights are a waste of money. Use that money to buy ammo and shoot a lot.
We found we could outshoot all the hot shot out-of -towners who came to our range all decked out with them things.

Pack Rat ... in the group I'm talkin about they can't see the sights anymore and glasses don't help 'em because we are talkin fellas with serious tri-focals, heck they would buy quad-focals if there were such a thing[:D]

The BSA Red Dot will work, I have one on My Ruger Mark 1 And it's real fun to shoot. I don't know how long it would hold up to the increased recoil of a 9mm. One thing to consider is that little 9mm
with a Red Dot won't fit in your pocket anymore! Might want to look into a reflex sight like the C-MORE or the Bushnell Holo-Sight.
At any rate it won't be "carry gun" anymore.

I use a Tasco Pro-point on my .22 Buckmark and also on my 12 gauge pump slug gun shooting 3" mag slugs. Lots of recoil and no problems with the Pro-point. I've been using this set-up for over ten years with the same Pro-point. Hope this helps.
