I see you're not getting any action on this question, so I'll speculate, which is the best I can do since I don't own a 455. My guess is that it would work, as the space taken up by the clips with the thickness of the cartridge case head behind the clips should be equal to a .45 Auto Rim. I know you said that they appear thinner, but are they thinner where they actually snap around the cartridge case? Anyway, if you want to send me your U.S. Postal address I'll send you an empty Auto Rim case and you can try it out.[:)]

I have one, but no autorim ammo on hand. However in looking at the cylinder as well as the thickness of the clip -vs- the rim thickness in my manual I think there may be a problem.

However ... don't worry about the auto rim if your out of clips you can still load the cylinder as the spacing is on the case mouth, you'll just have to pick out the empties. And, for the price of autorim ammo (when you can find it) you can buy quite a few moon clips.

I found the information on another site.

Very huge Thanks to Der Gebirgsjager for his kind offer.

Thanks Contender man for your thoughts also.

The Taurus 455 will NOT function with Auto Rim. The Stellar clips are thinner and there is not enough space between the cylinder and frame to close the cylinder loaded with auto rims.

I can use the standard .45 Auto dies also, but now have no reason to.

Contender Man the Starline brass would make it as economical to load Auto Rim as it is to load the rimless version. But I am ordering a few more packs of the Stellars to keep on hand. At the price of them I can see why Taurus made it to work only with their clips!

You got that right ... nothing like having a proprietary part!

However, they are very durable ... have bought more, but I'm still using the original ones as well, ance in a while for some fun, I'll give the Model 25 a break and shoot a round of IDPA with it. Typical stage I'll have to make one more reload than a 6 shot revolver and that puts the time up there, but I enjoy the younger fellas going "yer gonna do what?" and then turning in a net score that runs in the middle of the pack.
