barrel browning question
I am looking to re-do the barrels on a few of my replica muzzleloaders. Anybody have suggestions? I am looking for an "at home" type process.
Thanks

Best is product by Laurel Valley Forge you can get from Brownell. I can look up Laurel Valley's address for you if you want to order from them. This product requires no heat, is not critical about de-greasing and simple to use. You just rub it on with a small rag or paper towel pad. Depending on humidity, temp, etc it produces brown in a few hours or over night. You rub it down with fine steel wool and may want to repeat the process one or more times to get a darker brown. I have used it for many years with complete success. There is a Birchwood Casey brown that needs to have the work heated before applying. It is almost instant but difficult to get an even color on a large item. Very good for small things or touch up. 0 -
Brownells is good source also Dixie Gun Works.

I had asked this recently too, you can get a fair chunk of information from here: http://forums.gunbroker.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=90748&SearchTerms=brown,barrel
Many of the fine members gave pretty thorough answers on it. Good luck and welcome to GB.0
