model 70 firing pin spring
Thanks to your assistance I was able to wrestle on an after-market spring for my post-64 Winchester(not without considerable effort and a new dent in the ceiling however). Now I'm attempting the same feat with my pre-64. I see this is a little different animal. Any help would be appreciated.

Haven't done it for quite awhile.I don't have one of mine in front of me, but I think this will do it for you. Open and close the bolt leaving it cocked. put the saftey in the center position and remove the bolt.Depress the boltsleeve plunger and unscrew the boltsleeve. Pull the firingpin sleeve back againt the firingpin spring pressure and rotate 1/4 turn.Remember, its under tension. It should be in pieces now![8D]
Just remembered, after unscrewing the bolt sleeve[shroud] you have to move the safety to to fire position to release the firing pin.
Love them Pre-64's!!!!-Bob0 -
Thanks for the reply Bob. I'll be sure to have my safety glasses on!
