1911 question
If you wanted a good 1911 would it be better to buy the Springfield and add the options you wanted yourself, or buy a Kimber that is already tricked out, or something else that I have not mentioned? You guys generally give good advice so that is what I am trying to get again. Thanks guys!

Size ... the officers model is smaller or more compact, depending on how you like to say that.
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0 -
bbl and slide length and mag capacity. i believe the officers is 6 and the govt is 7. 4.5 vs. 5.5 on bbl length. i may be off a few notches but you get the drift. the 'officers' was designed to be carried concealed by military officers in dress uniform. the govt was battle issue.

The Colt Double Eagle, in a '91 catalogue, lists the Standard size as 5" BBL, 4.25 BBL on the Combat Commander (the one I had in 40S&W) and 3.5" BBL on their D.E. Officer's ACP. All of these models had an eight round capacity, according to the literature I have, except the 5" in 9mm and 38 Super, which carried 9 rounds.
The D.E. Officer's was 35 ozs. in 45ACP and 40SW, and 25 ozs. in the Light Weight design, the last coming out in Mid-Year 1991.0
