good 12 ga sabot and scope mount
Just got a 870 20" rifled slug barrel and Tasco Bantum 2.5x20 scope from the wife as an early V-day present. I just need suggestions on a mount and sabots. I would like to still use the sights.
Thanx, Earl

I am NOT a fan of the side/top saddle receiver Mounts that use the trigger group pin holes as a mounting source at all they suck IMO, always loosen up and when you tighten them too much you are bending the receiver interfering with the functioning of the internals while scratching the finish of your gun Under it,I would Bite the bullet and have a Gunsmith drill and Tap the top of the receiver for a Weaver type base , then use a weaver see though
ring set if you MUST use your iron sites as well,I use the light field
slugs they are the best IMO i have tried them all over the years.

As far as slugs go, I myself love the Lightfield sabots. I shoot the H&R slugster in 12 and have taken 5 deer the last 4 yrs including one over 100 yds. Most of the other shots have been between 45-75 yds.

I have a remington 870 wingmaster and I have a weaver mount on it that the scope will flip over to also use the open sights. I do not know what the exact model number of the mount is though. Maybe somebody out there can help you with that. Flip the scope back up and it is still zeroed in. It makes a great set up. 0 -
For slugs, my favorite is the Winchester Platinum Tipped 400 gr sabot. Excellent accuracy in my 11-87 and they really put the deer down quickly. A lot of guys do seem to like the Lightfields - haven't tried them - no need to. 0 -
I checked out the Lightfield site and think I'll give them a try along with win, rem and fed. Thanx, Earl 0
