As long as you don't use them extensively, I'm pretty sure its ok. If your gun has an aluminum frame, you might avoid use, and see about having relief cuts made to prevent cracking.

"The owners manuel states that +P ammo is not recommended for this pistol."

DUH!..... what part of that don't you understand?

njretcop, This manuel as well as most new gun manuels states not to use reloaded ammo, some even say it will void the warranty. However, alot of people shoot reloads everyday. i"ll bet you do. check your manuels for your guns.

I think you'll find that though important, the manuals for most firearms are about half full of lawyer talk trying to keep the company from being liable for mishaps. They've probably been sued so much, they will just pretty much say anything short of "don't buy our product." just to cover their butts. I'm not talking from a lawyer's point of view, but from an experienced shooters when I say that it is ok to shoot +P ammo. In fact most +P ammo on the market made by well know manufacturers is still well within SAAMI specs for standard loads. You'd be supprised how loaded down alot of current production ammo is. It is this way because there are still alot of people shooting old guns that aren't made out of materials as good as current production firearms. Even some current production cheap firearms aren't made very well. Springfield however makes a very dependable, well made firearm that is capable of use with +P ammo. The only reason I'd really say don't give it a continuous digestion of +P is because it can be bad for the gun if its not setup properly. I recommend installing a shock buff and a heavier recoil spring in the gun for use with +P ammo so that the frame doesn't take as much of a beating.

And if the gun blows up in your hand.......who ya gonna sue?

You can't sue Springfield, because they warned ya not to do it, that leaves the good intensioned members of GB. Good luck, I sincerely hope nothing happens to you or your gun.

Remember however, to tell your lawyer that I advised you to follow the owners manuel, haha. [:D][:D][:D]

The only one I remember seeing that said it was acceptable was the Heckler & Koch USP I beleive it said the gun was safe to fire with +p and +p+ ammunition.I saw in a gun book but not a owners manual that the Ruger P-95 was acceptable for +p+ 9mm ammo but have always wondered if they could put up with that abuse. The HK Im pretty sure would.
