Old Weaver V-8 scope
I have one that goes with an old rifle I have. It is 2.5-8x variable with the windage and elevation adjustments in the rear mount. It has a rather interesting reticle consisting of thin crosshairs with another set on either side of the bars making a kind of "grid". Anybody know when this was made. It has a slight "haze" when looking thru it which gets more pronounced on higher power settings- this is there no matter what the weather conditions are.
It may be dust or something.
Does anybody know if Weaver still works on old scopes like this or have the most current contact info for them? Last set I had didn't work.
Anybody else work on old scopes in case they don't pan out.
I really hate to retire it, it sorta fits in with the gun.

I have the exact scope on a Winchester 54. Sorry I can't be of help with a contact for Weaver though.
I'm sure out of all the vast knowledgeable people on here someone has the information.

Is this a Weaver V8 scope? Sounds like it to me, in stock condition they are JUNK! I got stuck with one when I 1st started shooting center fire rifles. I couldn't get a 24" group at 100 yd.s. Took alot of kidding from my Dad & brother about it too! Then in 71 I traded it straight across for a 4X Bushnell, groups then jumped down to 2 1/2" at 100 yd.s. I later talked with a old gunsmith that liked Weaver scopes, he told me that the V8 was an experiment, that's why you won't find them listed anywhere (shooter's bible ...etc.) BUT he did say that if you change out the back mount (the one where all the adjustment is) with a unertl or Lyman mount (external adjustment) it will shoot just fine. I never did, I was very happy with the Bushnell ...and REALLY happy when I read about barrel vibrations and floating the barrel on my rifle, groups then jumped down to 1/2" at 100 yd.s! My $0.02, anyway, GOOD LUCK! ...Mark

I have an older weaver scope, early 1980's I think, that came with a Ruger 7x57 I bought several years ago. The scope is a V7 2.5-7 power. I sent it off to a company in Texas for cleaning and reconditioning. They did a good job for fifty bucks. I really like the scope and the rifle. I recommend these people.
