45-70 BP trajectory?
I had the chance to escape from the Wisconsin cold and snow a few days ago and visited a friend in Florida. He was sighting in a Shiloh .45-70 business rifle at 75 yds. (the max. range available in his yard) prior to pig hunting. I'm guessing at the powder load, but lets say 64 gr. Goex ffg and a 525 gr. bullet. Is the bullet still rising at 75 yards or has it already started to drop on its rainbow trajectory? Is there a website with a trajectory chart for .45=70 black powder loads? Thanks in advance. Emery

THE BULLET STARTS TO DROP THE INSTANT IT LEAVES THE MUZZEL, HOWEVER... THE SIGHTS ARE A GOOD DISTANCE ABOVE THE BORE LINE AND THE SIGHT LINE AND BORE LINE ARE NOT PARALLEL. SO, IF THE SIGHT LINE AND BULLET PATH INTERSECT AT 75 YRDS. (DEPENDING ON SIGHT HEIGHT ABOVE THE BORE) I'LL TAKE A W.A.G. AND SAY YOU SHOULD BE JUST ABOUT ON TARGET AGAIN AT ABOUT 125/150 YRDS. 0
