You have quite a few good choices out there. The following companies all have good revolvers in the 200-600.00 range. If you want light you might go with the Taurus Titanium 38. I have a friend that owns one and it is a good pistol. S&W makes good small revolvers as well as Ruger and Rossi. My preferred is the Colt Detective special. Its small and has the "sixth" shot the others don't. To get a better answer you may have to be a little more specific as to how your carry criteria is going to be.

I like my ruger SP 101 the best and the price is ok for what you are asking about.Only bad thing is as stated above it's only 5 shot.Second would be ANY S&W out there. I have never had the chance to shoot the titanium.I would suggest a 357 if your gonna carry though.

I've had a Ruger SP101 in .357 for years. It's Magna-ported and a real joy to shoot, even with hot loads. It's heavier than the titaniums and airweights, but that's what makes it so shootable.

I won't carry any gun that I don't practice with consistently. I shoot the Ruger often. Anyone I know with a titanium or airweight shoots a half box through it, complains about the pounding the gun inflicts upon them, and then never/rarely shoots it again.

    I'd vote for the Ruger.

I carry a Ruger SP101. If you don't mind used, a Smith Model 19 or one of the newer variations. Colt Trooper in 4" is another personal good luck charm.

The best carry gun is the one you always have with you- it also needs to be one that you are comfortable with and trust and can shoot well. What are you "carrying" it for? IF you are doing it for self defense, then price is NOT ever a consideration to get into because what is your life worth to you should you need to use the gun?
If you want an "informal" carry gun [revolver], go look for an old Colt,Ruger, or S&W that will fit in with the clothing you intended to wear when armed. Buy the best bore and cylinder lock up that you can get. The trigger pull is secondary- that can be worked on. The finish is of no concern.
The very best carry weapon you can have is your brain.
My personal favorite [on the RARE times I ever walk out armed] is a little Beretta Model 318 .25ACP. This is the original "James Bond" gun that Ian Fleming wrote about in his first novels before the Walther came on scene- it holds 8 shots and reliable as a stone ax. My own feeling is that if you need more than six shots to resolve whatever problem it is you have, then you have a much worse problem than ANY handgun is going to solve for you. See the bit on the brain above.
I once mentioned the .25 to a [deceased] friend of mine. He said in effect: "Learn how to shoot, and shoot 'em in the eyes; they'll go down".

Well here is my choice, and what I carry. It is a Dan & Wesson 357. I have 2", 6", 8",and the 10" barrels. I prefer the 2". With it I can hit a pie pan at 50yrds. This is just what my experince is.

For a light weight carry gun, I'm currently using a Colt Agent. Six shots of .38 spl. If you don't mind the weight, the Ruger SP101 is an awesome little revolver in .357 magnum.

Thanks for all the replys. I was looking at the ruger 101. From what is posted here it looks like the gun to check out a little more closely.
