What are the current fees associated with getting an FFL-01? Just toying with the idea. Thanks

can i use an attached garage (this is where i work on my guns anyway) or do i have to rent a separate building. 0 -
CALL YOUR LOCAL BATFE OFFICE AND ASK THEM THE QUESTION. GOOD LUCK
I WOULD RATHER BE DUCK HUNTING.0 -
You do not necessarily need a store front or shop.
However, you must have the zoning, permits, & licences that anyone else running a home business in your locality must have. Once you have obtained all these, THEN you can apply for an FFL.

thank you for your help (everyone) it is so much easier asking here than dealing with b.a.t.f. i called them a couple of days ago to request the ffl application and started to ask a few questions. i felt like i was taking to the gestopo or the kgb. they weren't rude really. they just made me feel like i was up to something underhanded. oh well, thanks again.

Feds no longer allow home based gun shops ,home based gun stores where grand fathered in ,but to apply and get ffl ,you must have a store front ,with business hours

oh well, it was a nice idea. thanks 0 -
Federal regulations do not prohibit you from being a home based dealer, the regs only state that you must have a licensed premises. This can be a store front business, your home, a shed out in the backyard (very popular as it keeps the BATFE from doing their inspections in your living room) or some fixed structure where you have 24-7 access to the records which you must keep available. There may well be state and local laws which prohibit you running a gun business out of your home and the BATFE will not issue you a license unless you are in FULL compliance with local laws. If you think that you can actually do some business and impress the BATFE compliance inspector of this when he does his pre license interview, then by all means give it a try.

This is absolutely correct. I had an FFL for 27 years, always out of my home- finally dropped it as I got uncomfortable entering into this kind of contract (that is what it is you know) with the Feds after I had done some research on it. Each individual has to make their own decisions, so be aware of what you are doing and the ins and outs of it before you sign anything. If you want it, get it.

yes as i stated it was grand fathered in ,if you already had one ,or closed down and moved it to your house
as of a few years ago ,they will not issue a home based ffl dealers license ,or i would have one ,and yes you can turn you garage or the front of your house into a store front if local laws accept it ,it doesn't mean you have to rent a space in a strip mall to be a store front ,can you designate a room in your house to be a store front ,the answer is no
since the internet and gun shows has become so popular to sell guns ,the feds have cracked down on how they issue licenses ,Monday morning call them up and ask them ,tell them you want to run a gun store out of a spare room in your house ,you have a local business license and your town and state will allow it ,they will tell you no ,ten years ago they would have allowed it ,but not this century ,the laws have changed if you have a ffl you should have gotten the new books "read them" I have a C&R but I still get the news and updates
yep its me ,same one for 4 years now0
