Is it common for Glock mags to take 1 extra round?
My subject says it all. I've got quite a few 15 round 10mm mags that will accept 16 rounds (with factory base plate) and function perfect. Is this normal?

Sounds like the a weak mag spring to me. Check the overall length against one that will not accept the extra round.

You don't want to do that! Probably have spring problem, but if you don't have one now your going to. Also your stressing all of the parts of the magazine and one of these times "boing" it's going to come apart.
If you have to have more than 15 buy a +2 extender ... after you buy a new spring[:D]
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0 -
Listen to the other guys...buy a new spring. If it still holds 16 then it will probably hold 17 like the guy said, but you would have had to added the +2 addition
