Buying advise
I need a little help with my next purchase. I want to get a .22 pistol for target practice. I want a quality gun with good accuracy at an affordable price. Any suggestions you guys can give would be greatly appreciated.

Probably the question should be asked, "How serious is the target work in which you wish to engage?" The reason being expense; there are entry level pistols and Olympic grade pistols. Lacking that information, I would say that a good beginning to hone your skills, and be able to shoot as well as most of the boys at the local club, would be a Browning Buck Mark Bullseye or Target 5.5, or a Ruger Mk II Target or 22/45 KP512. These would suit the entry-level target shooter, and last him quite awhile before moving on to something more expensive. Other options in the same price range are the High Standard Trophy and Victor. A little more classy, but probably no more accurate, is the S&W Mod. 41. Thereafter you begin to enter the world of strange-looking pistols with odd grips and weights and very high prices.[:D] 0 -
I think a Ruger MK II in the configuration you like most,is certainly the most bang for the buck. They are long lived, ultra reliable and very accurate to boot.
Hard not to like that..................0 -
Ruger MK II, Browning Buckmark.
Can't go wrong with either.

The Browning Buck Mark or the Ruger MkII. There are also some very good revlovers on the market as well. The Colt Diamond back, I know it is out of production, but it is still a good choice. My 2 cents[8D]

I'd have to go along with the Ruger suggestion or the S&W Model 41 if you can aford to spend the extra money.

well, all the gang will know me to be one of the only guys who sticks by old hi standards like a favorite old chair. sorry folks, hi std has all the aformentioned guns beat. simple sights, simple takedown, best adjustable trigger, olympic quality accuaracy, and affordable. buy a ruger or a buckmark and try to get your money back 5 years from now. but hi std? its like money in the bank. dont overlook an old hi std. anything pre 81 will do just fine. give me a buzz if you want the true skinny on them. its my pastime.

With just an initial half-assed online search,I see numerous MK II Targets for under $250.
Bang for the buck,it cain't be beat.........................0 -
change the bbl on that ruger. ready begin. im done, are you? change that scope too. ready....im done. dont forget to resight it. im done. with the button takedown feature of the hi std, you can switch bbls and bbls with scopes already on it. want your son or friend to shoot your gun? set up a bbl just for him and just snap it in. no more walking a sight into zero ever again. i teach 6 shooters on line with one gun. lets see....6 rugers at 250.00 = 1500.00. my hi std was 450.00. 5 bbls @ 75.00ea. thats 825.00. got a family? dont want to buy them all guns? hi std is the way to do it. .....set aaaaand match.

I can read and often use that skill,to reply to a Post, instead of freelancing opinion in a direction opposite the initial query.
Here is what I read, upon my monitor: "I want to get a .22 pistol for target practice. I want a quality gun with good accuracy at an affordable price."
Perhaps your's offered something different?
I'd be curious to learn the handicaps of the afflicted, that negated their inability to shoot a likely configured pistol, for the criteria initially cited in your HS rant?
Making the simplistic difficult, ain't my gig, though I see some revel in it....................0 -
Get the Browning.
