Ruger Blackhawk cylinder question

To be on the safe side, spend the money now and get the convertible. It is my understanding that cylinders need to be timed/bored to the gun. At least that is the way my Freedom Arms revolvers are. I suspect the same applies to Ruger revolvers.

get the convertable , a used cyl. from a different gun may or may not fit, just depend s on how lucky you are , most used cyl. go for atleast $40 and up , so you are better off buying the one you want from the get go

you don't want to go through the grief or expense of fitting a cylinder ... spend the money up front

If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!

I have a Blackhawk convertible .45 ACP - .45 LC. It is a very nice gun.
Take the advise already offered and buy the factory outfit. Both cylinders are already fitted and timed at the factory and warranted.

If you buy an extra cylinder, then you have to spend the money to have it timed and fitted to your gun. The chance of finding a cylinder that would work in your gun without work is slim to none.

I am in the same dilemma as HS, sort of. I'd like to thank all the posters for their info, it will serve me well.
