bisley vs. regular colt
i have been looking around for a SAA style revolver and have noticed that there are two main styles; the standard and the bisley.
what is the differance . . .other than the style of grips.
do the diff grips make a differance in performance (i.e. handling, accuracy etc.)or is it just a differant look
just a neophite looking to gain a lil knowledge

The grips are indeed different as well as the angle of the hammer spur. Personally, I prefer the Bisley grip and the more "flat" hammer spur. But, among brands of Bisley's (Colt, Uberti, Ruger) there are even more differences.
I suggest you handle different brands and see how they feel to you. If possible, shoot different brands as the recoil and grip type affect the way the revolver settles back in your hand.

Bisleys are named after the range in England where the style was supposedly developed to improve competitive quality.
The handle differently and there are differences from one maker's "Bisley" to another's.
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0
