There is nothing to NOT like about the "K".
It headspaces the shoulder, inlieu of the rim and that is a more positive means. Accuracy potential is increased,as is brass life. The added capacity, with the blown out sidewalls and sharper shoulder,do enable more downrange performance. Feeding is still flawless, while reaping the gains cited.
Built my Wife one on a 54 Winchester wearing a #2 contoured 1-14" Shilen CM tube and dumped it into a McMillan G&H patterned handle. It too dotes on the little V-Max and Win-296 combo. I've enough 296 on hand, that I haven't given Lil'Gun a try,but do believe that propellant is of merit. Some day,I'll give it a whirl.
My preference is R/P brass and Redding dies. The R/P hulls offer superior capacity to the W/W offerings and the RWS stuff is a onager to get.
14.0grs of Win-296 with a moly 33gr,yields 3450fps outta a 20" tube. My preference is CCI 400's. Brass life is great, accuracy stellar and it is most impressive on the receiving end. It will launch Crows into the stratospehere and is just plain fun. I've shot that combo expressly, for quite awhile in the rifles mentioned,as well as another I built on a #1.
I fireform with a bulk purchased 45gr Hornet-esque projectile. That generally means the R/P version. I form with land engagement to promote positive headspace and reduce case stetch in the forming operation. 296 is good there, too. Some guys form hulls via the cream of wheat method, but I like my barrels and shooting is a passion. So I'm not giddy about whistling high speed abrasives(cream of wheat) down my bores, though it would suprise me none, that I enjoy the monority there.
In a properly cut chamber, one can wade through Factory ammo,to yield formed hulls. she'll still headspace the rime for the forming poke, less land engagement. Once formed,a guy controls headspace with the shoulder,as he does with most bottleneck offerings.
Do the "K",it's for real.
