    the blue steel mags made by western metal products are they any good or are they junk??

    The ones I tried to use were junk. If you got more than about 20 rounds in a 30 rounder, the spring tension would overcome the limited strngth of the feed lips and they would "spontaneously unload" themselves.

    They are typically junk just like the USA mags; some will work, but most need some tweeking to function.

    I picked up 2 Western Metal mags for my Mini 14 and they were nothing but scrap iron, before I sent them back I stepped on them so they could not be dumped on some other poor soul.

    They have got to be the crappiest mags available. Wouldn't take them even if they were free and all i'd have to do is pay the shipping.

    Thanks for the replies, I'll spend the extra money and get GI surplus or colt mags.

    If you own a Colt, be sure and look into the Orlite mags.I've used these for almost 20 years in my Car-15. They are Israeli issue and almost indestructable.Never had a failure to feed.
