You may have to ask either Walmart or Remington; information on "special editions" such as this is not published in any of the gun books or catalogs.

Walmart buys enough guns each year from Remington (& other manufacturers) to be considered a distributor. (That is why they can often sell a gun for < your local gun shop pays for the same gun.) In this case, Walmart ordered X number of specially made rifles for X amount of dollars, & sold them through their stores; "special editions" are not cataloged or available to regular distributors. This was a private transaction, so the best you will get from us is "I saw one in Walmart in 1995", or something like that.

The fact is, other than Sam Walton's family, no one CARES about these rifles. They will generally sell for the same as the standard version in similar condition, maybe a little less.

Yep, I still see them here in PA stores. If they came out in 1995, that tells me they were not a big seller if they have them almost 10 years later. Wait Wal-mart will put them on clearance sooner or later.

Was gonna buy my wife a 20 ga. 1187 Upland Special for $600+, but then I heard about these Sam Walton 1100s. Apparently Wal-Mart has been clearing them out over the past year. I found one Wal-Mart in my area that still has one and I am heading out the door to go snag it. I've heard some are clearing for $399, but this one is $499. Guess it depends on the store. Still, can't beat a brand new 1100 with 23" barrel and wood stock for $499, right?

Sorry for the resurrection. I bought the gun, now looking to get a longer barrel. Is this gun a LT-20 variation or is it a regular 1100 20 gauge (with the 12 gauge receiver). I'm looking at getting a longer barrel, but I need to know which replacement will fit it.

The side of the receiver merely says "Remington 1100". The box says it is an LT-20. The owner's manual says:

    MODEL 1100 LT-20-HIGH GLOSS
    AUTOLOADING SHOTGUN - ENGLISH STOCK
23" VT 20 GA. REM CHOKE
    SAM WALTON SPECIAL

It sounds like it is a LT-20. Can anybody confirm this? I unscrewed the barrel and couldn't find any markings either way.

All Sam Walton 1100 20ga shotguns are the LT-20 version. Remington quit making the standard 1100 20ga built on the 12ga receiver around 1977-78.

I was just at my local Wal-Mart and they have removed all of their guns. The lady said some selected wal-marts were not going to sell guns anymore.

Mine too, another fine reason not to go in there.
