S&W Model 645 Question
For Christmas I received the book 'Standard Catalog of Smith&Wesson' by Supica and Nahas. While I was reading this book I came across the discription of the Model 645. Now as most of you know, my knowledge of S&W's deals almost totally with antiques. However, in 1986 I bought one of these pistols because it was the first double action .45 that I had seen. I fired about a box of cartridges through it and then put it away. When I read the short discription of the pistol on page 228 of my new book, it gave the serial number range as TAK OOO1-TAK7727. Just out of curiosity I went to get my pistol and check the serial number. The serial number on my pistol is TAM 442x. I was wondering if anyone could shed any light on the different prefix?
