Rem. model 7 barrel question
When did Remington drop that neat little 18.5 inch barrel on the model 7 and start using the 20 inch of present.
Frankly after nearly years of hunting i am tired of heavy guns with long barrels.
I realize not everyone shares those views and i do realize heavy rifles with long barrels have there place.

Remington listed it the 1999 catalog, but no listing for it
in the 2000. A buddy has one in .260 it's a Great shooter!

2000 it was discontinued. I believe you can get the youth model in the 18 1/2 inch still. I would look into the Ruger 77 Compact also it is even lighter and shorter than the model 7.
God gave us all a gift. Have you found yours yet ?0 -
The Youth is now 20" also.
I prefer the 20",not for performance,but for minimized muzzle blast..........................0 -
1999 was the last year. Any gunsmith can cut a barrel dwn and recrown it for. I would opt for the longer barrel since there will be less muzzle blast and somewhat higher velocities. It boils down to what each shooter prefers. 0 -
The extra 1 1/2 to 2" makes very little weight difference in that slim barrel. If weight is a concern, get one with a synthetic stock. As for the ruger compact.....JJJJJJJJJUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNKKKKKKK. Unless you need a high priced fishing sinker.
Everyone has a photographic memory. Only some have film.0
