3 screw ruger 22 cal single-six
Would this model only have been magnum?
If it was a convertable would it say that on the frame?
I just got one today and it has a magnum cyl only and I was
wondering if it should have a lr cyl also.
It has a 6 didgit ser # 489xxx
Thanks for any help.

There was a Single Six Revolver made for only three years serial numbers 300,000 to 342,000 which only came in a 6 1/2 inch barrel that was stamped on the frame "Mag only." If your gun is one of these, it originally came with only one cylinder in .22 magnum......but it could be ordered or fitted with an "extra" cylinder in .22 LR. This would add about 20% to the value of the gun.
Also, just a side note, the single sixes made with serial numbers under 150,000 did NOT have a .22 Mag cylinder and the dimensions of these guns is slightly different so the regular convertible cylinders won't fit it. I can't give any information as to whether these guns are marked with the word "convertible" but I haven't seen one marked that way. But, I don't look at a lot of these so that wouldn't be unusual for me to say. Hope this helps.....

I have one serial #5026xx that my father bought new back in the 60's,it has both cylinders but does not say convertable anywhere on it at all,all it has on the frame on the left side under the cylinder
Ruger .22 cal.
Single-Six
on the right side is the serial #0 -
Your Serial Number indicates it is what the Factory calls the "Old Model" -- Single Six Magnum Model (manufactured from 1959 to 1969). This gun would NOT have come with a .22 LR Cylinder, only the .22 Mag. Your Gun would have been made in 1967 according to your Serial Number.
Is there something else you wanted to know about it? Let us know.....someone will help!
